Toon Study

Since my childhood days cartoons fascinated me.I travelled the worlds of Tintin,Asterix,Batman,Superman and even Nonte-Fonte....Somehow I felt that Indian comic strips lacked the 'x' factor for which western comics was more successful...In the meantime I came across the famous Bengalee cartoonist Debasish Deb...I have no hesitation to admit that this man changed my thinking about cartoons...He inspired me to make studies on them thoroughly...From there I realised what the 'x' factor really was...It was nothing but a deep study on the things or characters that was created...From Goscinny-Uderzo to Frank Miller everybody studied what they have drawn...Drawing cartoons doesn't even requires a formal study in art..All it needs is a little sense of humour and study on the fact that has to be drawn...Of course one should have the knowledge on art...A cartoonist should know how to draw a perfect sketch or not he couldn't even be able to distort it to form a cartoon...

Ohh!!!Loads of 'Gyans' I just gave....

Read it....If possible please make comments on it...

Thanks...

Nice article. I fully agree with your identification of the x factor. I am also a huge fan Mr Debashis Deb. It looks like you were fortunate enough to meet him in person. Would it be possible for you to share his contact so that I can also talk to him.

Thanks a lot.

Arnab.
